Steve Arikian, M.D.

Chairman and CEO

Dr. Arikian began providing pharmaceutical clients with Clinical and Outcomes Research services in 1988. Having held positions of increasing responsibility, he served as President of The Center for Health Outcomes and Economics at Bristol Myers Squibb for three years, where he supervised a staff of over 50 professionals responsible for development of global health outcomes research. He has designed and implemented research projects in the United States, Canada, Latin America and Europe. He founded Analytica International, a global provider of research and communications services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries in 1997. Dr. Arikian holds a faculty appointment at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. He has also held faculty appointments at the University of Toronto and the University of Kentucky. He is widely published in the peer-reviewed literature and has been a frequent speaker at industry and trade group sponsored meetings on topics including Formulary Management, Pharmaceutical Pricing, Multi-National Health Economic Studies, and Pharmacoepidemiology.

James J. Carroll

General Manager, Biovest Advanced Instrumentation Division

Mr Carroll joined Biovest in February 2006 and has over 20 years of experience managing and leading organizations supplying research and development tools to the Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals industries.  Most recently he was Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Cellular Process Chemistry Corp. where he developed and implemented a strategic marketing plan for the North American Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical market. From 1999-2002 Mr. Carroll was Vice President and Manager, Worldwide Marketing and Sales for Bio-Rad Laboratories where he led a 50 person sales and field marketing group. There he initiated efforts that led to increased sales within the Spectroscopy Division and increased product penetration in multiple market sectors. Prior to that Mr. Carroll was at the Waters Corporation where he rose to the position of Vice President and General Manger, having P&L responsibility for their North American Subsidiary delivering chromatography consumables to the pharmaceuticals market.

Mark Hirschel, Ph.D.

Chief Scientific Officer

Mark Hirschel, Ph.D. has headed-up our science and technology departments since September 2001. From August 1999 until September 2001, he was our Senior Vice President. Dr. Hirschel has served as the Principal Investigator of the National Cell Culture Center and is a recognized leader in cell culture production. Dr.Hirschel has authored numerous scientific publications and has received several grants and served on several NIH committees. Dr. Hirschel holds a BA in biology from Southwest State University (MN), an MS in Animal Physiology, and a Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology from the University of Minnesota.

Alan Pearce
Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Pearce recently retired as Senior Vice President, Financial Services of McKesson Corporation after 27 years with the firm. McKesson Corporation, a publicly traded Fortune 20 company (NYSE: MCK), is the leading provider of supply, information and care management products and services designed to reduce costs and improve quality across healthcare. Mr. Pearce held his last position since April 1999. Prior to this date he was treasurer of McKesson Corporation. Mr. Pearce currently serves on the board of directors and a member of the audit committee of BioDelivery Sciences International, Inc., a publicly traded drug delivery technology company (NASDAQ: BDSI). Mr. Pearce also currently serves on the advisory boards of Georgia Tech-Emory University BioEngineering Foundation and Hopkins Capital Group, a venture capital firm specializing in the healthcare field, and has previously served as a director and a member of the finance committee of XL Insurance. He is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned a BS in Industrial Management and University of Texas, where he earned his MBA in finance.

Sam Duffey

General Counsel

Samuel S. Duffey is general legal counsel for Biovest and for the Hopkins Capital Group and serves as a Director of a number of entrepreneurial corporations. Mr. Duffey is an attorney and consultant providing business and marketing advice to various client companies regarding domestic and international marketing and finance. Mr. Duffey graduated from Drake University with a degree in Business Administration-Marketing and Drake University Law School with a Juri Doctor Degree with honors. He was a Staff Trial Attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Duffey has practiced business law for more than 20 years assisting businesses in all aspects of growth and has assisted numerous companies in conducting intial public offerings.
